Scanning electron microscopy
This is a picture taken for my Master’s Thesis. I did my research at the organic chemistry department in the field of the archeometry, which uses chemistry and other techniques to help in archeological research. I received a small, burned, foam-like piece recovered from a late Roman Empire (133- 44 BC) fireplace found at an archeological research site in Poland. With the naked eye it looked like small seeds of some kind sealed together with burned resin. So I did a lot of chemical analyses and also took this picture to look closer what it might be...
