Starting Vortex

Stage fog illuminated by a sheet of laser light rolls up into a vortex as a laminar planar jet at Re = 330 is suddenly started. The jet rolls up like a jelly roll, and is cut through by the laser sheet. This image was created for a unique course on flow visualization that combined engineering and fine art photography students, faculty, techniques and concepts.

Traveling
