Trichrome immunostaining-Adobe Photoshop
Microscopic image at 10x from a needle core biopsy of a human prostate processed with both trichrome staining and immunoperoxidase staining specific for pan-cytokeratin. Using Adobe PhotoShop, the main compartments of this tissue were isolated and then color coded for further digital image analysis, as follows: Red: smooth muscle; Blue: stroma; Purple: glandular epithelium; Green: glandular lumina; Orange: tissue gaps; Black: background. Abnormal ratios between these compartments can predict prostatic disease.
